What makes the souvlaki here stand out is the fact that it's served with generous portions of pita bread, fresh vegetables, and a side of tangy tzatziki sauce that perfectly complements the grilled meat. The tzatziki is made in-house and is a great balance of garlic, yogurt, and cucumber. It's a side dish that many find themselves dipping into long after they've finished their souvlaki.

But Souvlaki Athinaiko is not just about souvlaki. The menu offers other Greek favorites such as gyro, moussaka, and a variety of fresh salads. For those looking to try something a bit different, their pita wraps are a crowd favorite, often filled with grilled vegetables or a mix of meats. • Lovely place with a nice atmosphere. There’s a good selection of food, like souvlaki, gyros, kebab, and more. The interior looks cozy, with some nice decorations on the walls that make it feel welcoming. You can order right at the counter or just sit down and let the waitress take your order. Everything was smooth and pleasant. Definitely a place I’d recommend!

  • The best food in Neos Kosmos. Amazing gyros, kontosouvlis, burgers and the staff is so friendly, warm and hospitable. This place was a regular during my 2 years in Greece, a minimum of 2 visits each week. The souvlakis are full of flavour and freshly made, everything here tastes amazing and is priced affordable. Do try the athinaiko potatoes. Solid place, great value for money and a very friendly atmosphere.

  • Standard American tourist writing this. My wife and I tried every hole in the wall restaurant for about a mile around and this had the best food by far. We had pork and chicken in some variation of a Gyro, pita bread, and potatoes. Honestly, it was excellent, and they serve cold beer in large bottles. We sat facing the street and there is no shortage of things to watch while you sit for a while. Highly recommended.

  • Souvlaki Athinaiko was recommended to me by a work colleague - and it did not disappoint. Everything about the restaurant was excellent, from the friendly team to the fantastic food and the incredible portion sizes. What I did like with many of the dishes was the ability to choose between individual and regular portions, therefore preventing waste. Between the two of us, we ordered the enormous platter for two (a steal at €22), a regular tomato and cucumber salad, an individual dakos salad, tzatziki and extra pita bread. Definitely a favourite place to eat in Athens now. This place was faultless!

  • I feel like good food in Athens is never surprising, but when I say the food at Souvlaki was transcendent I mean it. The atmosphere was lovely - at outside in the sunset - and we had the platter for two, which was enough for three and was easily one of the best meals I've had. Turns out life changing = combination of two types of gyro, chicken, pork, and lamb.

  • This was the first place we tried when we arrived in Athens. It has been the best place we’ve tried so far. Big portions, cheap prices, tasty food, and friendly and fast service. The shared meat platter for 4 was amazing everything was just so delicious and cooked nicely. The grilled vegetables were also very good, the baked feta was good with the meat on its own it’s a bit too heavy and overwhelming, the salad was also tasty with the honey mustard dressing and halloumi. 10/10 recommend!

  • We tried this restaurant based on another person's review who also was staying at the Intercontinental, so was a short walk, only 8min. The food was absolutely , full of flavour, fresh, authentic, and the price was good too. The service was great, and both women were very kind and helpful. We will be going back again before we leave. All positive things to say about this place. The little wine carafe was cute..
